Choose Costa Adeje if you want the more polished version: wide sheltered beaches, landscaped promenades, newer buildings and Siam Park within reach. It is the easier choice for a first visit and for families who want everything smooth.
Choose Los Cristianos if you want somewhere that exists outside of tourism: a working ferry port, a proper town centre, a market, and a beach the locals actually use. It is flatter, cheaper to eat in, and the easiest place in the south to manage without a car.
Costa Adeje's beaches are largely engineered and protected, which is exactly why they work: calm water, gentle entry and sand that stays put. Playa del Duque and Fañabé are the polished end.
Los Cristianos has two beaches right by the town, sheltered by the harbour, with very calm water. They are smaller and busier, but you walk to them from almost anywhere in town.
Costa Adeje leans towards resort dining and hotel bars, with the notable exception of La Caleta at its northern edge — a short taxi ride and the best eating in the area.
Los Cristianos has more everyday Canarian places, more variety at lower prices, and a promenade that stays busy without becoming a strip. Neither is a late-night destination; both wind down earlier than mainland Spain.
Both sit on the TF-1 motorway, roughly 20 minutes from Tenerife South airport, and TITSA buses connect them constantly.
Los Cristianos is the flatter of the two and its port is the departure point for ferries to La Gomera — worth knowing if a day trip appeals. Costa Adeje spreads more, and the hillside addresses above it genuinely benefit from a car.

Costa Adeje, narrowly — the beaches are more sheltered and the promenades are flat and pushchair-friendly. Los Cristianos is close behind and easier without a car.
The hillside areas above Costa Adeje are the quietest. Between the two centres, Los Cristianos is busier by day and Costa Adeje quieter at night.
Easily. They are about fifteen minutes apart by bus, taxi or car, and many guests do both in a week.
